This green binding displayed is a Turkish-style binding with gold paint medallions copied from 18 th century Persian stamps. The
cover was made of pastedown papers. The Turkish bookbinding style was greatly influenced by Persian styles of decoration.
Islamic paper was usually highly burnished and sewn with silk threads with colourful headbands. Books were placed on a rãhl book
support. This type of binding is ideal for a diary or to contain calligraphy, drawings and watercolours!
